The Chicago Tribune reports that the St. Viator Catholic High School is introducing mandatory drug-tests for their students:

Rev. Robert Egan, the Catholic school's president, said the measure is a "realistic approach" to fighting the proliferation of drugs such as PCP, marijuana, amphetamines and crack, since national surveys show that as many as 40 percent of high school seniors have tried illegal drugs.

ADS/ADHS, Narcolepsy and treatment-requiring depressions will spread among St. Viator's students....

 

CNW reports that hyperthyroidism might contribute to some ecstasy deaths.

 [A] young woman [...] developed fatal hyperthermia after taking ecstasy. It was later discovered at autopsy that she had an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), a condition that can make some people less tolerant to heat. 

[...] supported by other data showing that experimental animals that are hyperthyroid are more likely to die when exposed to ecstasy.
